Tobacco Retailer Permit
The Department of Environmental Health enforces and issues permits for tobacco product and/or electronic smoking device retailers within the unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County. The adopted Ordinance ensures the responsible retailing of tobacco products and electronic smoking devices, to discourage the sale and distribution of tobacco products and electronic smoking devices to minors, and to protect public health.
The Department of Environmental Health has recently partnered with the Town of Los Gatos, City of Palo Alto and City of Cupertino to administer and enforce the municipal codes to permit retailers of tobacco products on behalf of the cities. This permit requires local tobacco retailing businesses to obtain a permit to sell tobacco related products and/or electronic smoking devices.
